Final design of the CUBE has been established

The Executive Board has approved the final design of the CUBE. This new multifunctional workshop of the Faculty of Engineering Technology is an extension of the existing Horst complex. The final design was drawn up in close consultation with the design team, the future users and the Engineering Technology Faculty Board.

Workshop of the future
The design of the CUBE is sustainable and transparent. Upon entering you look out over the 6 meter high metal and welding workshop. The floor is recessed so that you have a view over the entire space. Downstairs, students and researchers test innovations, you can see the landscape outside, and the crane is above you. The building breathes Engineering Technology.

Realization starts after the summer holidays
You may have noticed that 4 trees between the Kleinhorst and Noordhorst have been moved to a new location. These are the first preparations so that construction can start after the summer holidays. Until then, the technical design will be further elaborated and the European tender for realization will be sent out. A decision will be made in June on which party will realize the construction. Construction will start after the summer holidays and the design will become visible in practice.

Nice to know
Housing is one of the 5 priorities for the Faculty of Engineering Technology. In addition to the realization of the CUBE, improvements are being made in the Horst Building. For example, existing study places have been transformed and new places have been added. Read more about the philosophy of and our collaboration with architect van Mourik here (Dutch only).
