Overview of personal benefits for UT employees

We offer not only an excellent salary in line with market rates, but also a comprehensive secondary benefits package that includes an optional model of employment, allowing for individual customisation. Examine which employment conditions best suit you. Below is a selection of what we offer. 

Benefits via staff association UT Kring

The staff association (UT-Kring) also offers benefits/discounts for its members. You are not automatically a member as an employee, but you can register yourself via the website.

  • Salary and benefits

    The salary and remuneration page provides information about

    • Salary scales
    • Holiday allowance
    • End-of-year bonus
    • Allowances

    Employees from abroad can make use of the expat scheme under certain conditions.

  • Optional Model for Employment Conditions

    Within the Optional Model for Employment Conditions, you can exchange salary and/or holiday hours for targets, such as:

    • a bicycle,
    • making your home more sustainable,
    • extra holidays
    • extra salary
    • trade union contribution
  • Travel and accommodation

    The UT has regulations regarding travel and accommodation:

    • Travel allowance commuting:
      • 100% allowance via public transport
      • kilometre allowance (+ tax exchange) for transport other than public transport
    • Relocation allowance
    • Leave in the event of relocation upon commencement of employment (or compulsory relocation)
    • Allowance for temporary accommodation

    In addition, employees receive allowances in connection with working from home:

    • Internet allowance for the internet connection at home
    • Work from home allowance for the days that you work from home

    If the position allows it, the UT offers options for hybrid working. In this context, the UT offers facilities for a home workplace.

    The UT also has standard reimbursements for business travel.

  • Training and Development

    By default, every UT employee has (at least) three development days per year to use for development and training in the context of Recognition and Appreciation and/or sustainable employability. There are study facilities, an internal training offer, but also access to online courses such as Good Habitz. For more information, see the page A quickstart to development possibilities.

  • Working hours

    A full-time working week is 38 hours. However, with a full-time employment contract, you work 40 hours as standard according to the flexible working hours. Alternatively, you can opt for a 38-hour working week in exchange for compensation hours and for a 36-hour working week in exchange for compensation + holiday hours.

    In addition, you can deviate from the standard working hours in consultation with your manager. If you work part-time, it is important for a correct calculation of leave and e.g. the calculation of the ‘working from home’ allowance that the days on which you work are registered correctly. You can adjust the working pattern via MyHR “change working pattern”.

  • Work-life balance / leave

    For a good work-life balance, the UT has a number of options for employees:

    • Leave types such as: care leave, birth leave, parental leave, educational leave, sabbatical, unpaid leave, transition leave.
    • Vitality Pact when you are at least 5 years before the sate pension (AOW) age
    • Long term savings or purchasing extra leave hours via the Optional Model for Employment Conditions
    • For full-timers: choice for a 38 or 36-hour workweek in the context of flexible work hours.

    In addition, as an employee you can discuss with your manager whether you want to work more or less hours per week (temporarily).

  • Work and health

    Because the UT attaches great value to the vitality of its employees, there are a number of facilities in this area:

  • Insurances

    The UT has taken out a number of collective insurance policies for employees:

    • Collective health insurance (including the option for the World Wide Clause for temporary work abroad)
    • Collective disability insurance
    • Surviving dependants insurance (Anw shortfall)
    • Discount on insurance policies at Centraal Beheer
    • UT travel insurance
    • Liability insurance

    In addition the trade unions often offer additional insurance policies via their own website.

  • Pension

    Pension accrual:

    1. Via AOW (State Pension)
    2. Via ABP:
    • Old age pension
    • Survivor's pension
    • Disability pension
    • Net pension (for pensionable salary above €137,800 (amount in 2024))
    • ABP extra pension

    In addition, pensioners can continue to use the collective health insurance with Menzis. With GEWIS, the UT has an association for retired employees, which organizes many activities for pensioners.

  • End of employment

    The End of employment page provides information about:

    • Incapacity for work
    • Statutory unemployment benefit (WW) and non-statutory unemployment benefit (BWNU)
    • Transition fee
