Spam e-mail increased

Early this week (week 43) the number of "porn spam" messages has increased.
Employees receive messages in Dutch or Norwegian with sexually explicit subjects which were not captured by the SURFmailfilter.
The administrators of SURFmailfilter adjusted the filter blockers on Tuesday October 25th and as of Tuesday afternoon the filters block nearly 100% again. ... read more


Caution Ziggo phishing e-mail

The last couple of days and weeks employees and students receive e-mail that claim to be from the Dutch ISP Ziggo. This is not a legitimate e-mail.

The e-mail claims to be an invoice for a much higher amount than usual.

At this moment the University of Twente is being attacked by an very good copy of the e-mail with the subject “Wachtwoord ICT-account verloopt over 3 dag(en) //Password ICT account expires in 3 day(s). This e-mail seems to contain a link to, however, the link refers to a phishing site.
A legitimate e-mail will always refer to the self-service portal of the University.
