- Application specific passwords for studentsIntroduction Sometimes it is necessary that other applications access your data at your student account at Google (for example an email client you want to use to access your student mail at Google). Google requires you to generate a specific and unique password for every application you want to give access to the data at your Google account. This manual explains how to generate those passwords. STEP 1: 2-STEP VERIFICATION Make sure you activated 2-Step Verification. See 2-step Verification manual. STEP 2: SELECT ACCOUNT Browse to https://googleapps.utwente.nl/ and login with your student credentials. In the right upper corner, click on the Google Account Button (the most right circular button). Click on My Account to access your student mail account. This also includes an e-mail address (ending on utwente.nl or student.utwente.nl, respectively). We call this e-mail address the primary e-mail address. As a rule, this primary e-mail address cannot be changed anymore. In special cases (e.g. in case of an error by HR, CES or LISA) this rule may be deviated from. Employees can also have an email address added (an email alias). We call these aliases secondary email addresses. Some rules apply for secondary addresses: (a part of) the last name must be included in the e-mail address; the first name, or at least the first initial, must be included in the e-mail address. An employee may indicate which e-mail address will be the preferred address. The preferred address is used as the sender for sent e-mail, so this is the address seen by the receiver. Only when you have received the automatically generated mail with your personal account details, your ICT account (e-mail address), you can actually change the password. If you have not received it, you have to be patient until you have received this e-mail. Make sure you have entered the correct private e-mail address in Studielink. Your ICT account must first be activated by means of setting a password. Go to the LISA self-service portal. Click on Activate / Reset Password at the bottom right of the webpage.
