The SURFnet FileSender is a service which enables you to send large files over the Internet. It is a web-based application that is offered by the UT. With this service you can:
- send files with a size of 500GB maximum;
- invite people to send a large file to you;
- record online a list of the files that you have sent and received.
The end user does not have to pay to use this service. These costs are passed on by LISA to the faculty or service.
You require an ICT account to use this service. You can log in using your m number and the associated password.
The maximum file size per upload via HTML5 is 500 GB. All modern browsers support HTML5. If you use Adobe Flash, then the maximum file size per upload is 2 GB. If you use encryption, then the maximum file size is 250 MB.

This is a service that has been developed based on the security conditions stipulated by colleges and universities. The service is therefore also used by several colleges and universities in the Netherlands. The authentication of the users is provided by SAML2, LDAP and RADIUS.
