A degree in Civil Engineering and Management, or Construction Management and Engineering, will offer you excellent career prospects. In a recent survey among UT alumni, 100% of our graduates had found a job within three months of graduation and 58% within one month. Furthermore, 90% indicated that the CEM programme provided them with a very good basis from which to start their professional careers.
About 10% of CEM graduates opt for a PhD or PDEng programme, either in Civil Engineering at the University of Twente or in a different department or at a different university in the Netherlands or abroad.
Most Civil Engineering graduates find jobs with:
- Engineering consultancies, such as ARCADIS, Sweco, Royal HaskoningDHV, Goudappel Coffeng or HKV;
- Large construction companies, such as Ballast Nedam, Heijmans or BAM;
- Public organizations in the field of civil engineering, such as the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (Rijkswaterstaat), other government departments and agencies, municipalities, water boards or research institutes such as TNO, Deltares or universities.
After completing the Master’s programme Civil Engineering & Management you may be considered for admission to a PhD programme in the field of Civil Engineering at the Twente Graduate School or to our PDEng (Professional Doctorate in Engineering) programme in Civil Engineering. The PDEng is a two-year post-Master’s design programme which involves coursework and culminates in a design project. As a trainee, you will be employed by the University of Twente or be placed at a company.
These options are also available to graduates from our Construction Management and Engineering Master’s programme.
