Industrial Design Centre & TechMed Centre Matchmaking workshop Get inspired by Industrial design knowledge and experiences

The WORKSHOP

Join us on Thursday, the 28th of March 2019 at the event “Industrial Design Center meets TechMed Centre”. During this program we will share the latest TechMed developments and present the various possibilities our TechMed Centre offers. Three partners of the Industrial Design Center will present their medical projects. The event will provide ample opportunities to get informed and inspired and build your network in the field of healthcare.

Project 1

THE DEVELOPMENT OF EVONE

All Round Technology, Erik Jan de Jong

The special thing about this product is that it uses a narrow tube instead of a thick tube and thus completely controls the pressure in the lungs. This ensures that fewer lung injuries are caused during surgery and long-term artificial respiration, which significantly increases the chance of survival of the patients.

  1. We want to emphasize the following points after a brief introduction of the device from the development process:
Determine specifications, how do you do that and what challenges have we encountered?
  2. Working together as organizations with different earn models, what did we encounter?
  3. How can you improve the delivery of the equipment to the notified body, taking into account the specific focus of the notified body, what did we encounter?

With all three points, we want to invite the audience to think along.

Project 2

NEXT GENERATION PENDANTS: Innovating a medical commodity to unique distinguishing products.

IHB, Roderik Erens

Pendules are an example of a commodity product:

In appearance, use and ergonomics, the pendants of the many suppliers are interchangeable. The basic functionality, reliability and quality are comparable, which means that it does not matter for the user with which shuttle to work. As a result, Skytron shuttles do not stand out and there is strong competition on price and margins are under pressure. In developing the new generation of Skytron shuttles, IHB has gone through an innovation process with external partners and Spin offs from universities and cooperation in the IDC to implement a number of innovations in Ergonomics, Smartsensor functions, design and quality in order to create the new generation of to develop a distinctive unique product, with cost savings through modern, state-of-the-art production methods.

Project 3

SMART WHEELCHAIR CUSHIONS

Life & Mobility, Joost Schipper & Harmen Leskens

In recent years, Life & Mobility has developed a new system of wheelchair cushions that are innovative in terms of structure and vision and also seamlessly match the reimbursement system within the Netherlands. Within this concept, a smart back has been developed with sensors with which the sitting behavior can be monitored. This smart back can be linked wirelessly to an online platform that also links other smart tools. A care provider thus has relevant information about the client's behavior during the day and at night. In this presentation L & M will provide practical insight into the system with which these products have been developed and put on the market.
