I am a program manager at Agrifac Machinery, a manufacturer of agricultural sprayers and sugar beet harvesters. Currently my job consists of structuring and steering the design and design process for a completely new sprayer. Every day, I encounter a lot of different people with different perspectives, fields of expertise, ideas, and opinions concerning these products and the product design. This literally goes from supplier to dealer, engineer to sales, marketing to client, and so on... Grabbing all this information together and translate it to one final product is an aspect that I personally like a lot, and it is absolutely something that I have learned in the master Industrial Design Engineering.
Thanks to the master in Industrial Design Engineering, I now better understand which tree you are chopping down. In other words: where you are in the development process. Already in the early stages of the project, the enthusiasm and excitement of one of our clients was noticeable. “That sounds amazing! Cheers to that!” is what one of our clients said when I told him our ideas for a new sprayer. I think that this is the best reward a design engineer can get.
