Industrial Design Engineering

The pre-Master's programme is a transfer and bridging programme for higher professional education (HBO) or university education bachelor's programme students who wish to obtain a university master's degree, but who cannot be admitted directly. Students with a related previous education will gain the knowledge and skills needed for participation in the Master’s. Once you’ve successfully completed the pre-master's programme, you’ll be granted admission to the Master’s programme in Industrial Design Engineering.

As a HBO student as well as a university student you can start on the pre-master's during your bachelor's degree as a minor or after completing your bachelor’s degree.


Start date of the programme for HBO and University students will be in September. 


For HBO students

A pre-master’s programme contains 30 Credits. This is a fulltime study programme of one semester and contains the following courses:

Quartile 1

Project Product-Humans relations
Design and sketching or Physical ergonomics (depending on your previous education)
Academic Research Skills

Quartile 2

Graphical Design
Technical Product Modelling
Academic Research Skills

For university students

The study workload, or number of EC the pre-master’s programme for university students consists of, depends on your previous education and will not be the same for everyone. Pre-master’s programmes for university students range between 15-60 EC.


In the coming year, the pre-master’s programme will be taught in English.


If you will be eligible for admission to the pre-Master's programme in Industrial Design Engineering depends on your previous education. HBO students are admitted on the basis of their overall results (average of 7.5 or higher on individual subject*, and an 8 or higher for the final project) and a portfolio. You may also provide a statement from your HBO institution confirming that you were in the top 15% of your year (* Without the stage and final project).
