Four-year collaboration between the University of Twente and Buyitdirect

The University of Twente has signed a four-year contract with Buyitdirect. The contract consists of workplace hardware such as desktop computers, notebooks, monitors, mobile phones and accessories, as well as Apple products. A special feature of the collaboration is the realisation of a link between the UT ordering system and the Buyitdirect system.

Collaboration

"The ease of use of the webshop was the deciding factor," says Harold Borkent, team leader ICT at LISA.

"Several parties have shown demos. Buyitdirect really stood out in that area." The realization of the link between the LISA ordering system (Library, ICT Services & Archive) and the Buyitdirect system was also an important criterion for the collaboration, Harold Borkent says. Account manager of Buyitdirect Anne Matthijs van Marle: "This gives employees up-to-date insight into the stock status. Unburdening the internal employee is important here. For example, all orders are delivered to one central point. It immediately becomes clear for which building, which person and under which purchase number was ordered."

Shaping 2030
All the research and education of the UT is aimed at making a difference in today's society, while preparing the next generation for the future. Dealing with sustainability is therefore one of the requirements within the contract. Buyitdirect must, among other things, submit an ISO14001 certificate and provide insight into the expected energy consumption of the hardware. It is also up to Buyitdirect to show a clear policy on e-waste. This should show, among other things, how no longer functioning hardware is removed and recycled. It has been agreed that an annual report will be provided with regard to the CO2 emissions of the activities and products supplied.
