Research Software Policy launch

We are excited to announce the launch of UT’s Research Software Policy, a bold step forward in our commitment to open science.

This policy is designed to ensure the recognition of all research output and encourage open access across the board with FAIR principles—making both data and software Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

Key features of the policy include:

  • Open Access: Promoting transparency and enabling global collaboration.
  • FAIR Research: Enhancing visibility and scientific integrity.
  • Recognition & Rewards: Acknowledging the research software as an output with appropriate incentives.
  • Sustainability: Ensuring that our research software remains functional in a wider ecosystem of open-source software.

By making science open, we not only foster greater innovation and collaboration but also reinforce our commitment to academic excellence and societal impact. Join us in embracing this transformative initiative for a more open, accessible, and impactful future in research.

This policy is created in collaboration between university library and faculties, led by Petri de Willigen and Marianna Avetisyan from EEMCS, Peter van Roosmalen and Hidde Eidhof from Legal Counsel Team, Efe Sözeri and Néstor De la Paz Ruiz from DCC.

The team would like to acknowledge the following colleagues for their contributions and feedback: Jasper van Alten, Maarten van Bentum, Ton van den Boogaard, Tom van Dijk, Serkan Girgin, Jan-Willem van t Klooster, Roy Kolkman, Haico te Kulve, Simone van Lin, Alice Nikuze, Peter Oosterhoff, Roland van Rijswijk-Deij, Ashit Rao, Bojana Rosic, Florian Schuberth, Iris Schutte, Masoome Shariat, Anthony Thornton, Mark Vlutters, Victor Wanningen, Raul Zurita Milla.
