University of Twente Innovation Lecture: The Netherlands en route to the Green Century

On May 9, the University of Twente will present its annual Innovation Lecture at the Grolsch Veste in Enschede. This year's lecture will be delivered by Atzo Nicolaï, the President of DSM Nederland. The lecture, which is entitled “The Netherlands en route to the Green Century”, will focus on sustainable innovation.

Every year, the University of Twente presents an Innovation Lecture for its contacts, business associates, and staff. These lectures give prominent guests from home or abroad an opportunity to discuss novel and innovative technological developments, and their impact on society.

In this year’s lecture, Atzo Nicolaï suggests that many global social problems are getting worse rather than better. At the same time, the influence of politics is waning. These developments demand that politics, social organizations and industry be reviewed, to make sustainable innovation possible.

Awards

The Innovation Lecture will be introduced by Anne Flierman, Chairman of the Executive Board of the University of Twente. Before proceeding with the lecture itself, two awards will be presented by the University of Twente Funds Foundation. The Marina van Damme Grant is awarded to successful former female students of the University of Twente. The Van den Kroonenberg Award goes to young entrepreneurs (with a demonstrable link to the University of Twente) who have distinguished themselves by developing innovative products or modernized operational management. Atzo Nicolaï will present his lecture immediately after this award ceremony.

Innoversum Innovation Congress

The Innovation Lecture is part of the 2012 Innoversum Innovation Congress: Innovation with a social impact. This networking conference will focus on new business and innovation in the areas of renewable energy, public safety, and care. In other words, innovation which has an impact in our society!
