borrowing books and documents

For students and staff

Books bought in 2012 or later are available in open stacks. Books bought earlier are available for ordering from the closed depot. A request for these books can be done through FindUT or at the lending desk.

During office hours (Mon-Fri until 17.00 pm) the requested books can be retrieved at the lending desk in about 15 minutes. You can also retrieve these in the evening and at weekends.

An application outside the office hours can be retrieved after 09.00 am next day.

UT-students and UT staff members use their student- or staff card as library card.

The standard loan period is 1 month.

The library offers 5 ereaders for loan. Ask the staff at the lending desk.

Document delivery and Inter Library Loan (ILL)

Books and articles from other (University) libraries can be ordered digitally:

Most databases offer an OCLC linkresolver worldcat logo button which offers options to get to the full text.

Another option is to let the University Library take care of your request. In FindUT, choose from the “Library Links” menu (upper right corner) UT ILL request and fill in the appropriate form. Check the tariffs.

If a Dutch Library holds the item you want, UT staff can use FindUT to request the item. This requires a personal account. Choose in FindUT for “request item” and logon with your personal account and complete the UT ILL request form.

Personal ILL accounts for UT staff can be acquired at the Vrijhof library, tel. 053-4892777, or email

When the requested is not hold by a Dutch library, click in FindUT on “request item” and you will be forwarded to the UT ILL request page.

Extra service

Staff can ask for a desk copy of a book. The book you need will be bought by the library, and you can keep it at your desk under special conditions. For more information please contact ContentManagement.
