4TU DeSIRE conference on Resilience Engineering Building Connections for Resilience Engineering Solutions

On behalf of the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering and the Strategic Research Programme DeSIRE (Designing Systems for Informed Resilience Engineering), we would like to invite you to the first 4TU DeSIRE conference on Resilience Engineering on 6 and 7 June 2019 at the University of Twente.

The aim of this national conference is to provide a forum for scientists and practitioners to connect, share experiences and raise challenges on all aspects related to Resilience Engineering of social-technological-ecological systems. Together, we want to build a resilience engineering community and start or further strengthen collaborations.

Conference theme - Building Connections

Our societies face many grand challenges, including provision of clean and reliable energy, design of climate proof cities and new forms of mobility. Given the increasing number and severity of shocks and stresses, engineering resilience in these systems is an absolute necessity in the modern interconnected world. Designing solutions for such complex social-technological-ecological systems requires linking different domains and disciplines. Therefore, our first conference is dedicated to building connections within the field of Resilience Engineering: across different domains and between academia, practice and policy-making.

Programme highlights

  • Inspiring international keynotes
  • Pitches by the DeSIRE tenure trackers
  • Sessions with practitioners in addition to the thematic scientific sessions
  • ‘Meet the editor’ and many other opportunities to meet and mingle
