Alina Hossu
European Environment Agency is a regulatory agency of the EU. Its task is to provide sound, independent information on the environment. It is a major information source for those involved in developing, adopting, implementing and evaluating environmental policy, and also the general public.
My responsibilities in the EEA are mainly focused on providing administrative support to the implementation of our projects, namely: I provide assistance in the processes of communication and networking between services and with external “contacts”; I organise internal and external events such as project meetings, workshops, conferences and other public events including logistical preparations, agenda and participants' management and the liaison with external service providers; I provide assistance for the administration and processing of contracts. I have also worked on project administration previously at the European Commission.
my STUDY CAREER
In 2007 I had the great opportunity to be accepted in the Master Programme ‘’European Studies’’ at Twente University. I had been prior to my master studies an Erasmus student at Utrecht University and I was happy to be able to return to Holland and continue my studies. Having a Bachelor in European Studies, the curricula of the Master Programme was very attractive to me as it gave me the possibility to gain a deeper knowledge of EU political and institutional setting as well as EU law. It offered also a multi-cultural experience as we were many international students in the group.
The University of Twente as an organisation provides a great environment for international students. After graduation, I have done an internship at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the EU Policy Department and at the Romanian Embassy in Brussels while later in 2008 I was offered a position in the European Commission after having passed the EPSO competition for civil servants. The experience I gained during my studies served me well later on in my career as a European administrator, as I made full use of my knowledge of EU financial regulations, EU law and EU policy spectrum.
