Op maandag 26 juni legt de Ambassadeur van Canada, Sabine Nölke, een bezoek af aan de UT. In een vrij toegankelijke lezing voor UT-studenten en -medewerkers gaat ze in dialoog met haar publiek.
Canada bestaat dit jaar 150 jaar. De Ambassade van Canada in Nederland wil de banden aanhalen met de Nederlandse universiteiten en studenten. Mevrouw Nölke vertelt over het belang van internationalisering, diversiteit en de rol van de Canadese overheid daarin.
Mevrouw Nölke voert tijdens haar bezoek aan de UT tevens een gesprek met collegevoorzitter Victor van der Chijs en met (internationaliserings)staf. Ook gaat ze in gesprek met het bestuur van studievereniging Astatine (Advanced Technology) en hun opleidingsdirecteur. Zij maken deze zomer een studiereis naar Canada.

Lezing Sabine Nölke: ‘Canada 150’
“In 2017, Canada will celebrate its 150th Anniversary of Confederation. Ambassador of Canada to the Netherlands H.E. Sabine Nölke will deliver a presentation on the key themes and priorities for Canada as part of this important milestone year. These priorities include: promoting a diverse and inclusive Canada, positive and proactive engagement with Indigenous communities, engaging youth, reaffirming the importance of strong environmental stewardship, and contributing to inclusive Canadian and global prosperity”.
About Sabine Nölke
Sabine Nölke (BA, MA, LLB, University of Western Ontario; LLM, London School of Economics and Political Science) has spent most of her career in the Legal Affairs Bureau, including as counsel in the Legal Operations Division, as deputy director of the United Nations, Criminal and Treaty Law Division and as director of the United Nations, Human Rights and Economic Law Division. She served abroad, at the High Commission of Canada in London and with the Canadian delegation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Vienna. Prior to her appointment to the Netherlands, she was Director-General of the Non-Proliferation and Security Threat Reduction Bureau. Ms. Nölke is married to Christopher D. Ram and has one daughter, Eilidh.
