Due to a data breach at the publisher of scientific journals, Elsevier, login accounts and passwords have become public knowledge.
Because an Elsevier server was accessible from the internet, it was possible to view unencrypted passwords.
Library, ICT-Services & Archive (LISA) is in contact with Elsevier and we try to jointly determine the impact together. Elsevier is the responsible person within the framework of the GDPR and will inform the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens and those involved.
We advise anyone with an account at Elsevier to change their password. If you also use the password in other places, change it there as well. Choose a different password.
