ITC presence at Geospatial World Forum 2017

Motto of this year’s Geospatial World Forum was Geospatial + Deep Learning = Shaping Smarter World. The forum gathered professionals and academicians from Geospatial World and it was marked with celebrating three anniversaries: 10 years of the magazine Geospatial World, 20 years of Geospatial Media and Communications, and it was a start of a year of celebrations 250 years of existence of Survey of India. ITC joined the spirit of congratulations and this was marked with receiving a present presented by the Survey General of Survey of India Dr. Swarna Subba Rao (an ITC alumnus) to Dr. Dimo Todorovski Course Coordinator Land Administration from ITC.

Several ITC professors and scientific workers were present at this important event which focused on utilizing latest GIS and Remote Sensing tools and technologies and their practical application in multiple domains for shaping smarter world. Prof. Menno Jan Kraak, as President of International Cartographic Association (ICA), was one the guest speakers at the one day event Digital Cartography Summit which was held on 24 January 2017. He had one of the opening speeches for this summit, he was moderator of two working sessions as well as moderator of the closing session of the Digital Cartography Summit.

Symposium on Land Administration Systems was organized on the second day of the Geospatial World Forum. The symposium attracted several world excerpters in land administration (such as World Bank, Open Geospatial Consortium OGC, Netherlands Kadaster, UNECE WPLA, USAID, Trimble, Esri, etc. )  as well as experts from India National Government and several Indian State Government authorities dealing with land administration. Prof. Jaap Zevenbergen and Dr. Dimo Todorovski were speakers at the Session on Land Information Systems Driving Economies, where, their presentations were well attended and followed with a rich discussion on the topic of land administration.

The presence of ITC professors and lecturer was noticed by Indian National Remote Sensing Center NRSC and International Institute for Remote Sensing IIRS, ITC’s partner in Joint Education Programe, which organized a two day event NRSC Users Interaction Meet 2017. Prof. Jaap Zevenbergen and Dr. Dimo Todorovski were invited to give a Lead Speeches during the second day of this event. Their Lead Speeches were followed by app. 180 young prosperous professionals, where, they presented Innovations in Education in ITC and within Land Administration Programme.
