Based on its excellent training programmes in the area of lean, as of 10 June, 2016, the University of Twente will be qualified to grant the internationally recognized lean yellow (basic) and green belt (advanced) certificate to participants of the lean training programme at the UT. The University of Twente is the first university in the world to obtain this accreditation.
On 10 June 2016, the University of Twente received the formal accreditation of the Lean Competency System (LCS). The LCS was developed by the University of Cardiff, which is specialized in the area of lean and collects its knowledge in the Lean Enterprise Research Centre. Organizations are granted the accreditation to issue these certificates when they demonstrate their ability to train participants to reach this level.
Effective agile organization
The UT’s strategy revolves around being an organization that improves continuously, which is why lean was chosen. We can solve today’s bottlenecks and realize tomorrow’s ambitions in an effective agile organization. To this end, the UT aims to embrace the lean ideas and the philosophy of continuous improvement. By training its own employees, the organization can create a ripple of improvements.
Management philosophy
An increasing number of organizations are focusing on improvement using lean. UT students are introduced to this management philosophy during their study programmes. The accreditation allows the UT’s employees to develop their lean skills, and to demonstrate said skills by granting them the yellow or green belt certificate.
More importantly, the accreditation shows that the organization is taking continuous improvement seriously.
