If you want to send a message to students, the most suitable means to do so depends on the subject of the communication, the specific target audience and the impact of the message on this target audience. If it concerns a message with a high impact on someones education or way of learning, please contact the communication officer of your unit or student-news@utwente.nl to advice you in an effective communication mix where special attention is paid to informing relevant educational directors. The studentportal is used as an addition to the other means in the mix.

Message
Student portal publishes news, announcements of events, etc., with regard to: - Organisation strategy - Related to education - Health - Activities/events - Monitors/surveys - External announcements/requests/calls - Internal announcements
Target audience
All students
Information
- Information is intended for all students or it has been very clearly marked for a specific group - Information is substantively interesting for students, but isn't urgent - The sender is UT (possibly an external party if information is very relevant to students) - Information does not serve a commercial goal
Student news publishes the most important messages of that month, with regard to: - Organisation strategy - Related to education - Health - Activities/events - Monitors/surveys
Target audience
All students (or a large part thereof)
Information
A maximum of six messages can be added to the Student News. An editorial staff, consisting of students and staff of CES and M&C, prioritises the messages
- Intended for all UT students (or large part thereof) - Does not serve an (external) commercial goal - Important for students to know (education, health, UT developments) - Message contributes to UT profiling
Related to education on a central level and corporate information (crisis, managerial, invitations for academic ceremonies)
Target audience
All students (or a specific target audience)
Information
- Information has a large impact on students - Information is so important that no student can miss it (CES-CSA/CvB determines this) - Sender is CES-CSA or CvB (via S&B or M&C) - Information is critical and unforeseen and cannot wait for the next publication of Student News - Information is for all students or a large specific target audience - Guideline: do not send more than 2 per month
