Innovative imaging and diagnostics
Join us on April 14, 2023, for the much-anticipated second edition of the CMI-NEN Matchmaking Symposium, a day dedicated to cutting-edge imaging and diagnostics. Prepare to be inspired as top speakers from the esteemed CMI-NEN consortium share their insights through informative lectures. But that's not all! The symposium also offers exciting matchmaking opportunities with the Interdisciplinary Center for Medical Imaging North East Netherlands (CMI-NEN), bringing together clinical partners, business associates, and researchers in a collaborative environment.
At this event, we believe in fostering cooperation over competition, as we strive to achieve greater advancements through the power of joint efforts. Collaborative partnerships and community building are at the heart of this symposium, with the ultimate goal of making a positive impact on healthcare through innovative technology. Mark your calendar and get ready for an enriching day of knowledge-sharing, networking, and meaningful collaborations at the CMI-NEN Matchmaking Symposium.

The CMI-NEN consortium can jointly apply for grants, such as IMDI grants for which CMI-NEN is recognized as CoRE and beyond. The goal is to improve collaborations in Medical Imaging research between UT, UMCG/RUG and Siemens Healthineers Netherlands. To facilitate this further, CMI-NEN requests the Executive Boards of UT, UMCG/UG and Siemens for some available financial support for booster projects. These 1 or 2-year projects will be focused on setting up or strengthening collaboration between UT, UMCG/RUG and Siemens and getting the first results and knowledge. Projects should build on the complementary expertise of researchers from both universities and industry in order to achieve synergy effects by technical-clinical-industrial collaboration. The outcomes of the booster projects are expected to form the backbone of more extensive collaborative proposals targeting extramural funding.
In total 4 projects of 15k Euro will be granted; 1 per research domain. The final decision is to be based on evaluation results and expected proposals budget. The coming CMI-NEN symposium will be on 14th April 2023 and will be an excellent moment to introduce the boosters.
This symposium is relevant for departments/working groups of the University of Twente (TechMed community), UMCG/RUG, Siemens Healtineers experts and SMEs who are connected to the research domains: Imaging, Intervention, Data Science and HTA.
We have a limit of 120 live attendees, so register now to ensure your seat.
After registration, you will receive an email a few days prior to the event with practical information. Although this is a free event, please note that registration for this event is not obligation-free. If you cannot attend the event for which you have already registered, we kindly ask that you let us know by sending an email to email@example.com.
This year the event is organized by the University of Twente - Technical Medical Centre. The previous edition took place in Groningen and was organized by UMCG and RUG.
Medical imaging and diagnostics is a collective term for all kinds of ways to make images of the inside of a man. These imaging techniques provide faster and more effective diagnoses and treatments and thus contribute substantially to cost savings and quality improvement in healthcare. A number of imaging technologies are used routinely, but, the need for innovation is still enormous, in the field of hardware development (robotic arms (for intervention), MRI coils, ultrasound sensors, etc.), software development (improving visualization, analysis and methodology), contrast agents and expanding application areas (to underpin the efficacy of a product). CMI-NEN 2.0, a Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) established by RUG/UMCG, University of Twente and Siemens Healthineers Netherlands, aims to promote the above developments: develop and validate new techniques, and investigate their effectiveness in improving clinical care supported by AI and HTA.
