Everybody knows Descartes’s famous I think therefore I am, but what does this actually mean and how did he arrive at this one-liner? Why is he regarded as one of the most revolutionary philosophers? Johnny Søraker will argue that it is a shame that this phrase has become a cliché, because it not only holds the key to understanding modern philosophy, it also gave rise to challenging problems in science.
