UTStaff Mobility

Staff Mobility

INTERESTED IN GOING ABROAD? DISCOVER YOUR OPTIONS!

At the University of Twente, we attach great value to the mobility of our staff. UT employees can visit universities abroad for professional development or for strategic and academic cooperation. There are a number of funding options available for both academic and support staff to undertake mobility programmes at institutions outside of the Netherlands.

Professional development

Would you like to find out about developments taking place in your field at universities abroad and would you like to learn from them? The UT believes it is important to offer international opportunities for staff to develop themselves professionally and to strengthen their competencies. Besides the wide variety of local training available at UT’s Centre for Training & Development, staff can undertake professional development at other institutions, for example by participating in a staff exchange programme at a partner university abroad.

Strategic & academic cooperation

UT has formal global academic partnerships, as well as other types of educational, research, university-wide and faculty-specific partnerships with international universities. All of these partnerships are of great importance to UT’s internationalisation strategy and we collaborate closely with international universities on numerous strategic, sustainable, innovative, and capacity-building projects. It is vital for UT staff to visit institutions abroad to maintain our cooperative relationships and develop new partnerships.

I went to Indonesia for ten days to visit Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB.) UT has a student exchange partnership with ITB and we also collaborate on a project called ANRGI. While in Indonesia, my colleagues and I co-organised and participated in an ANRGI stakeholder engagement panel discussion and a training/workshop day aimed at students from ITB, amongst others. During the visit we also took the opportunity to meet our ITB colleagues in person for the first time. We discussed future collaboration initiatives as well as Erasmus+ student exchange possibilities. We look forward to offering the students we met on our trip the opportunity to study in Twente. If you have the chance to visit a partner university, I highly recommend it.
