Counselling and support during your PhD/Engd journey
Are you experiencing difficulties with your PhD or EngD research, or are you dealing with stress, health or personal issues, or maybe an unsafe situation? Do you feel that these challenges may be affecting your work? If so, take action and seek support. Support is available to all PhD and EngD candidates, regardless of your funding type (employed, scholarship-funded, externally funded or external). Depending on your circumstances and the type of support you require, the University offers a range of services to help you (see below).
The Twente Graduate School (TGS) provides dedicated PhD/EngD support through access to PhD/EngD Counsellors, as well as courses and training on, for example, self-management and career development within the 30 EC PhD Education Programme. In addition, the TGS can help you find solutions to specific problems or answer questions relating to your individual PhD or EngD programme, Doctoral Regulations, PhD or EngD Charter. You can contact us by emailing tgs@utwente.nl or by calling +31 53 489 4900.
Building your UT network
Doing a PhD or EngD can sometimes feel isolating, especially when you are facing challenges in your research or adjusting to a new environment. Building a network of fellow candidates, colleagues and friends can provide valuable support, both personally and professionally. If you are new to Enschede or the Netherlands, creating such a network takes time. Joining the PhD/EngD association, a PhD/EngD event, a sports club or cultural activities is a great way to meet people, make connections and feel more at home.
