Exactly one year from now - in the weekend of 10 to 12 June 2022 - the whole of Twente and our campus will be dominated by the Special Olympics National Games, the largest national sports event for people with an intellectual disability. There will be 25 sports tournaments in 14 Twente municipalities, and more than 3,000 athletes and their coaches will travel to Twente.
Promotion
To mark this moment, the organisation started the countdown in its own unique way last Thursday, on 10 June 2021. The whole of the Netherlands will witness the promotion of this event: two enormous Müller lorries were completely transformed for this goal, starring five Special Olympics athletes and the Special Olympics slogan which says 'We are Special'. Olympic flag to Twente
Traditionally, the Olympic flag was officially handed over to the Twente organisation during the closing ceremony on 13 June 2021.
