ROC van Twente, Saxion University of Applied Sciences and the University of Twente join forces with various partners to organise the Sustainability Week from 5-10 October. A week full of events, both physical and online, where participants are introduced to sustainable initiatives in the Twente region - and find inspiration on how they can contribute to a sustainable society.
Events for everyone
The activities throughout the week offer something for everyone. You can attend a seminar by ‘trashpacker’ Tijmen Sissing from Hengelo, who set in motion a global movement for the fight against litter. During the week you can enjoy sustainable dishes at various restaurants in Enschede, or help litter picking to clean up your own living environment during a Waste Walk at various locations in Twente. Launch of sustainable initiatives
Saxion launches its new Green Office during the Sustainability Week, a central hub that will coordinate all sustainability initiatives within the University of Applied Sciences. The University of Twente launches the Green Hub Twente, a student-led organisation aimed at working on more sustainability within education, research and operational management. This way, the organisations hope to accelerate the process towards sustainability of their own organisations and society as a whole.
Cooperation
The ROC, Saxion and the UT are of the opinion that contributing to a sustainable society is a natural part of their mission. As a result, ecological, social and economic sustainability play an important role in education and research at the institutions, and cooperation is constantly on the rise: with each other and with other partners in and outside of Twente. The partners all bring their own knowledge and expertise, so that they complement and strengthen each other. The joint organisation of the Sustainability Week is a new step in this cooperation.
