Extra summer activities on campus

As COVID-19 is continuing to influence our daily lives, quite some students have chosen to stay in Enschede for the summer period. For some, this means not having a well-deserved break to relax on a Spanish beach, or not to meet up with friends and family abroad. The University of Twente is organising extra activities for students to enjoy a relaxing and sportive summer on campus.

“We note that a lot of students stay in Enschede during the summer break. For them, we would love to offer some extra’s”, says Ingrid Bos-Bosscha of the UT Sports Centre. “Sport is an important social activity for students. And of course, a great way to enjoy a beautiful summer!”

During the whole summer period, boot camps will be given, daily from Monday until Thursday from 17.00 hours until 18.00 hours. The outdoor swimming pool has extended its opening hours and the tennis courts are free to use (reservation requires). The same goes for the beach volleyball fields.

As of 3 August, the gym in the sports centre will re-open and as of 17 August, it is possible to use the other indoor sports facilities again. All facilities have been adapted in line with the health and safety regulations from the national authorities. Users will be asked to take note of the protocols, to ensure everyone adheres to the rules.

All activities are free for users with a UnionCard or CampusCard. For a full overview of all activities and making reservations, please visit https://www.utwente.nl/en/sport/news/2020/6/668212/summer-activities

Sports, culture and more

The UT sports accommodations aren't the only place where the will be activities during the summer break. All over the UT, new activities will be deployed and open for all. The University Innovation Fellows are organising a Twente-4 Hours Global event on 8 August and CuriousU will be hosting a weekly inspiring session.
