Center for Brain-inspired Nanosystems (BRAINS) in U-today New center opens 27th of March

The Center for Brain-Inspired Nano Systems (BRAINS) at the UT will officially open on the 27th of March. The ultimate goal of this inter-faculty center is to develop the next generation of powerful, energy-efficient electronics inspired by the brain. Co-founder Wilfred van der Wiel was interviewed by Michaela Nesvarova for U-Today.

BRAINS is directed by Professor Wilfred van der Wiel and Professor Hans Hilgenkamp, who established the center last year. ‘We want to combine all the efforts in brain-inspired nano systems at the UT and work together on the next generation of computing hardware that is smarter, more powerful and, most of all, energy efficient,’ says Van der Wiel.

BRAINS is an inter-faculty center of the University of Twente with currently twelve principal investigators from the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, the Digital Society Institute and the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social sciences.
