BOARDBLOG TOM: SIGNING CODE OF CONDUCT INTRODUCTION PERIOD
Yesterday, the 28th of June, the ‘Code of Conduct’ for student associations is signed by the Rector Magnificus, the chairman of the PACT-committee and de chairmen of student associations DSCC/DJCR Audentis et Virtutis and A.S.V. Taste. In 2017, the former chairmen of the associations have revived the Pakkerij Advisory Committee Twente (PACT). The Code of Conduct contains agreements about safety, health, personal integrity, education and responsibilities during the introduction period of the student associations.
Last years, the introduction periods of both associations went very well. The associations want to maintain this good organization and therefore contacted the university to improve the relationship. The university was very willing to accept this request. The SU took part in the conversations to function as a bridge between the associations and the university and to give input. The conversations were friendly and slowly but eventually they came to a Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct was signed yesterday in the Pakkerij.
Rector Magnificus Thom Palstra emphasized that the Executive Board finds the mutual integrity and the well-being of all students very important. Thom Palstra looks back on a good process where all parties talked in a cooperative way and came to a great end result. The chairmen Niels Borst (Chairman Taste) and Tom van der Meer (Chairman Audentis) added that they are glad about the positive attitude and the cooperative way the Code of Conduct was made. They look forward to continue this relationship with the UT.
Personally, I’m very satisfied with the outcome of the conversations and I have a lot of appreciation for the professional attitude of the stakeholders. We were very pleased to be a part of this, we will stay involved as a member of the PACT for further advise.
