Veni grant for Ruchi Bansal for the development of targeted nanotherapeutics against liver fibrosis

Ruchi Bansal has successfully received a Veni Grant of EUR 250,000 from The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). The research project “Targeted Nanotherapeutics: Aiming at the resolution of Liver Fibrosis” will be conducted in the Department of Biomaterials Science and Technology.

Liver damage caused by excessive alcohol-intake or hepatitis viral infections, is a growing health problem with no medication. The aim of this project is to develop innovative targeted nano-medicines for the treatment of liver diseases, by targeting the crucial cell types in the liver without eliciting adverse effects. These highly innovative strategies opens up new therapeutic possibilities that can also be broadly applied for other inflammatory and/or fibrotic diseases.
