The High-Tech Business and Entrepreneurship (HBE) department, part of the BMS faculty, is changing the way it is organised. The sections Industrial Engineering and Business Information Systems (IEBIS) and Financial Engineering (FE) will be transformed into two new sections. With the organizational change, the faculty board wants to further strengthen the good work and strong foundation of HBE. The change will not affect the number of employees: everyone will remain employed and keep their current position. The new sections start on September 1, 2025. The affected employees have been informed via their line managers.
Two new sections
The IEBIS and FE sections will formally cease to exist on September 1, 2025. Two new sections will replace them as of the same date. The first section will be formed by the current IEBIS Operations Management (OM) team, which will continue independently. The current FE section will form the second section together with the IEBIS Business Information Systems (BIS) team. With the members of the IEBIS sub-teams OBCC and HRM, the Faculty Board will enter into talks: in principle, they will move to the Entrepreneurship, Technology and Management (ETM) section, but this can be deviated from based on the wishes of the employees themselves. Nothing will change for the organization of study programmes in which HBE employees are involved.
Recognizable and robust
With the change, the faculty and department administration want to create more recognizable and robust sections. The research in the new sections fits together better than in the current structure. As a result, the sections are expected to work more efficiently and profile themselves more effectively, both within and outside UT. This will create more room for already existing and new, successful initiatives, and that offers opportunities to realize more impact.
UT's financial situation plays no role in the choice made: all sections involved are financially healthy and no jobs will be lost. The department's already solid financial basis can be further strengthened with the new way of working.
The naming of the new sections has yet to be decided. A section president is being recruited for both new sections. This process will start soon.
