Nationwide strike against education budget cuts on Tuesday 10 June

On Tuesday, 10 June, FNV, AOb and WOinActie will organise a strike against the budget cuts in higher education on Malieveld in The Hague. As University of Twente, we endorse the aim of this protest action. The proposed cuts negatively impact educational institutions, affecting not only students and staff but also society at large.

We support employees and students who want to take part in this protest action. We do so by instituting some guidelines for this day. These guidelines are similar to those applicable to previous protests.

Guidelines for employees

  • If you want to participate in the action, you do not have to take a day off;
  • Discuss your participation with your manager. Your manager can help with any solutions regarding planned work. But, there can also be weighty arguments that require your presence at the university;
  • We rely on lecturers to ensure that students can complete their courses properly within the duration of the course;
  • Scheduled tests and exams go ahead, and we trust that a suitable solution will be found in consultation for this.

For students

  • Scheduled tests and exams will go ahead;
  • There is no attendance requirement for students on 10 June (except for patient care and compulsory practicals that cannot be made up/rescheduled);
  • Making up missed material is the student's responsibility.
