How can you build a super-efficient computer? UT-professor Christian Nijhuis (Hybrid Materials for Opto-Electronics) is inspired by the human brain. Our brain works on the basis of neurons, firing small electric pulses. Because of this way of working our brains can do very complicated things – like recognizing a face – while using minimal energy. Nijhuis builds artificial neurons, by assembling self-learning molecules. Which promising applications could such a brain like computer have? Dr. ir. Aleksandar Andreski (Associate Professor Nanotechnology, Saxion) explains why our current computertechnology is reaching its limits. In cooperation with Scintilla, Inter-Actief and Arago.
