Self-Directed Learning (SDL) is a highly debated topic in higher education. It is assumed to meet the needs of next generaton of young professionals. Ten years ago the University of Twente started experimenting with SDL. The University College Twente became the UT's 'living lab' for SDL in engineering education. Now ten years on the question is: what did SDL bring for the UT, for UCT graduates, for lecturers and for society?
University College Twente invites the entire UT commity for open debate on SDL: Looking back for the Way Forward! A panel debate will take place with UCT lecturers from the early days as well as from today. A challenging key note by an invited guest scholar will set the stage for the debate.
The event consists of:
- A panel discussion with three (former) University College lecturers: Prof. Dr. Bernard Veldkamp (Vice Dean Research Faculty BMS), Prof. Dr. Klaasjan Visscher (Professor of Innovation Higher Education & Society) and Dr. Martin van der Hoef (Associate Professor at University College Twente).
- A panel discussion with three University College Twente (UCT) alumni.
- Two guest speakers: Dr. Aida Guerra - Associate Professor Aalborg University - Centre for Problem Based Learning in Engineering Science and Sustainability / Dr. Janneke Frambach - Maastricht University - Self-directed learning and culture.
You are invited! Looking forward!
