An unusual ensemble.
With their bold approach to string music and a matching stage presence, Fuse rapidly became a one-to-watch formation on the cutting edge of Dutch musical life. The 6 musicians with backgrounds equally in classical- and jazz music, show outstanding instrumental and artistic talent combined with a modern, entrepreneurial attitude.
Fuse’s unusual line up – a string quartet with double bass and percussion – enables them to develop a unique melting pot of styles and genres. Their approach results in a qualitative and sincere crossover experience.
The group performed over 600 shows in nearly 6 years, at a wide range of stages: festivals, concert halls, churches and theaters including concert series for the Royal Concertgebouw and TivoliVredenburg. The group headlined festivals such as Wonderfeel, Oranjewoud festival and SAIL. In the Netherlands, Fuse is a regular guest on popular tv-show Podium Witteman; a weekly live broadcast in which Fuse performs and presents their favorite music.
'Fuse has that mysterious ‘extra bit’. The musicians literary fuse when they play together, becoming one musical body. The fun and energy with which they play is infectious. They speak to each other via their instruments. What do they say? You can only guess. They share a secret that draws you in.’ – NRC, december 2018
Fuse intuitively combines music that reflect the divers stylistic backgrounds of the band. Influences from classical music, jazz, folk and minimal music are all part of their musical world.
