Opportunities for collaboration

MIRA is a trend-setting and rapidly growing research institute in the field of Biomedical Technology and Technical Medicine. MIRA has often been acclaimed as one of the best research institutes in Europe and the United States in the field of Bioengineering. We regard technology as a catalyst for innovation in the health care sector.

MIRA has access to state-of-the-art research facilities, including the Experimental Centre for Technical Medicine (ECTM) where students and (external) professionals can train in medical interventions with the most modern simulation technologies.

MIRA employs more than 300 researchers who work together on top-level research. This relates to such issues as Tissue Regeneration, Neural & Motor Systems and Imaging & Diagnostics. The wants of clinicians are always central to our research and training. We collaborate closely with (academic) hospitals such as the University Medical Centre in Groningen and the UMC St. Radboud, research institutes such as the Hubrecht Institute and trend-setting industrial partners like Siemens. MIRA is well-represented in the eight national Centres of Research Excellence , which is why we are lead manager for CCTR and CMI-NEN and a partner of NeuroControl and SPRINT. MIRA's annual turnover is 25 million euro.

We have an active start-up policy and encourage entrepreneurship among our employees in order to market our technology. This has resulted in MIRA being involved in creating dozens of spin-off businesses.
