Start of first MedTech Twente Week

Together we empower our future healthcare with medical technology

The first edition of MedTech Twente Week will take place from 2 to 4 November 2022. Building on the success of the TechMed Event, this year the University of Twente is hosting a broad, multi-day programme for researchers, business professionals, start-ups, medical experts, students and investors. The programme will focus on medical technology research, implementing MedTech innovations and bringing them to market, accelerating MedTech business and making new connections. Together we empower our future healthcare with medical technology.

During the three days of the MedTech Twente Week (MTTW), various national and international trailblazers and stakeholders from research, business and healthcare will speak about their work on MedTech innovations. Each day will focus on a different theme. The MTTW starts with the TechMed Event on Wednesday 2 November. The MedTech Business Event will follow on Thursday 3 November and the week will end on 4 November with the MedTech Talent Event and the Robotics Summit 2.0.

2 November: the TechMed Event

The TechMed Event will offer several parallel sessions, as well as networking opportunities. Key topics will be the staffing and affordability challenges faced by hospitals and other healthcare facilities. What role can medical technologies play in meeting these challenges? The event will also spotlight a new strategic programme at UT: Personalised Medicine. This programme is centred around current topics, including technologies for women’s health, kidney health, the rise of chronic diseases such as diabetes and the need for realistic digital and physical models of body parts and organs. The day will conclude with a keynote by Prof. Alex Friedrich (chairman of the board and medical director of the University Hospital in Münster, Germany). He will share his views on intensifying cross-border cooperation between industry, hospitals, governments and science in Germany and the Netherlands.

3 November: MedTech Business Event

At the MedTech Business Event, the focus will be on accelerating MedTech innovations. With the right sources of funding, facilities and a strong network, start-ups can take the next step in their development and innovations can be evolved. In various sessions, we will discuss the funding landscape for MedTech companies in Twente, organise an angel meetup and show how spin-offs start at the University of Twente. Want to take your MedTech innovation abroad? Then join the information sessions on internationalisation. Find out what you need to do to comply with European or US medical regulations. What does it take to successfully launch a product in Germany? And what can we learn from the medical innovation clusters in France?

You can also use the event’s matchmaking platform to expand your network and make useful connections. This is where corporations, start-ups and investors meet.

4 November: MedTech Talent Event

The MedTech Talent Event uses a unique method to match talented students with medical technologies and the companies behind them. During the afternoon part of the programme, students will get to take on challenges faced by MedTech companies Demcon, Baat Medical, Medtronic, Micronit and Benchmark. The day will end with informal networking drinks, allowing students to get better acquainted with these local companies.

Interested in robotics surgery? Check out the Robotics Summit 2.0, which will also take place on 4 November.
