Prof. Dr. Tatiana Filatova to leave the University of Twente

After 16 years at the University of Twente, Prof. Dr. Tatiana Filatova will move to Delft University of Technology as of 1st of April. “It truly feels like leaving home, and I will look back with warm memories on the collaborative atmosphere and friendships made at UT.”

Tatiana joined the UT back in 2005 as a PhD-student in environmental economics and agent-based modelling. After her cum laude promotion in 2009 she started as a tenure-track professor in 2010. During her time at the UT, she fulfilled many roles in addition to her work as a professor in Computational Economics.

She was faculty representative for the strategic research theme ‘Engineering for a resilient world’, member of the Sustainability Group in Shaping2030, co-leader of the BMS ‘Resilient societies’ research theme, leader of the thematic group on agent-based modelling and climate change, member of the Young Academy (JA@UT) and previously the scientific steering group member for the faculty research theme “Water”.

Saying goodbye

“I grew up as a scholar at UT. I am very thankful to all the great colleagues I have worked with at CSTM, across the faculties BMS, ET and ITC, and to my mentors for all what I learned. It truly feels like leaving home, and I will look back with warm memories on the collaborative atmosphere and friendships made at UT. Now it is time for a new challenge. I will certainly stay in contact with the UT community, for example, via my work within the 4TU HTSF DeSIRE Resilience programme and the 4TU Resilience Engineering Center. I am grateful for the time and experiences I had here, and I look forward to what lays ahead for me”, says Tatiana.

Vidi

Recently, Tatiana has been awarded a Vidi grant to set up a competitive team for her research on climate-resilient futures through transformational adaptation. The Executive Board is grateful to Tatiana Filatova for everything she has done for the UT and is sad to see such a highly valued member of the UT community leave. They wish her every success in her new position and hope to collaborate further within 4TU and between our universities.
