Rapid Prototyping Lab: new lab for 3D printing

The UT now has its own 3D-printing lab: the Rapid Prototyping Lab. The new laboratory offers various 3D-printing techniques and is accessible to all university employees and students. The lab will be officially opened on Wednesday, 14 June.

New 3D-printing techniques

3D printing is increasingly being used to rapidly test ideas and produce complex shapes. UT researchers can, for example, use the Rapid Prototyping Lab to print special components for their test setups. In addition, the Rapid Prototyping Lab will be used for teaching, and research will be carried out into the new opportunities that 3D printing offers, such as combining various materials and techniques.

Shared facility

The Rapid Prototyping Lab was set up with financial aid from MIRA. All UT employees and students are allowed to make use of the lab. Go to www.utwente.nl/rpl for more information on the possibilities and terms and conditions, or get in touch by sending an email to rplab@utwente.nl.
