Jos van Hillegersberg appointed President of the Logistics Top Sector’s ‘programme committee for research’

University of Twente Professor Jos van Hillegersberg was appointed president of the programme committee of the Top Consortium for Knowledge and Innovation (TKI Dinalog) for the Logistics Top Sector. This committee is a key player in determining the country’s research programme in the area of logistics and in evaluating research and innovation projects.

The logistics sector is very important to the Dutch economy as it has over 813,000 jobs. The Dutch Logistics Top Sector’s goal is to become number 1 in the world. The Netherlands is well on its way as the country currently holds a number 2 position in the Logistics Performance Index, a ranking of the logistical performance of 160 countries by the World Bank. TKI Dinalog handles the ‘research part’ of the Logistics Top Sector’s innovation agenda, through structural public-private collaborations that aim to create strong connections between fundamental and applied research and commercial knowledge transfer.

Van Hillegersberg says he feels honoured to be asked to fill this post. “It is not just a personal honour for me, but it also demonstrates that the University of Twente is highly valued for the active role that the institution plays in a large number of logistics research projects. The University of Twente has a great reputation in the IT industry and has clearly shown that it possesses the organizational skills and expertise to innovate the logistics sector. This is exactly what the sector needs.”
