On Friday 27 November the Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS, Central Statistical Office) and the University of Twente (UT) will sign a collaboration agreement. The collaboration is focused on innovation of social-scientific research. CBS offers UT researchers an expansive source of information about Dutch society. At the same time the CBS has the opportunity to better utilize big data from new, scientific perspectives, as well as providing more insight into this data for the government, the corporate sector and the general public.
The signing, by director-general Tjark Tj-A-Soi and Chair of the Executive Board Victor van der Chijs, will take place at the end of the "UT-CBS Data Camp". For an entire week researchers of the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science and the faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences, together with researchers of the CBS, worked on research questions about various subjects from social sciences, health sciences, economics and logistics.
UT researchers can work in Datalab with a special CBS terminal. This terminal is located in a secure environment and makes it possible for the researchers to work with CBS data in accordance with the laws and regulations concerning privacy.
CBS provides the statistical information that offers insight into the social and economical developments in the Netherlands.
