As from 1 January 2015, it will be no longer possible to make payments with the chip card. This open payment system will be abolished nationwide. At the UT, the chip card is a familiar method by which you pay for your printing material. As a result of these developments, a number of changes will be introduced with respect to printing by students.
Because of the digitization and the aim of increased sustainability, the use of printers by students has decreased significantly anyhow. Only 10% of all students still makes use of the multifunctional printers and only 3% of the users purchases more than 125 printing units. Nonetheless, the UT still wants to support printing.
In the light of the current figures and the abolition of the chip card, it has been decided to grant every student 125 free printing units as from 1 December 2014. These units can be used at all multifunctional printers in UT buildings with the help of the student card. If the student wishes to have some printing done, they can also make use of the Xerox Repro shops in the Bastille and Carré.
Instructions will be available on the ICTS website late November.
