Richard Stevens wins EUROTHERM Young Scientist Prize 2012

Richard Stevens, post-doc researcher in the Physics of Fluids group, has won the EUROTHERM Young Scientist Prize 2012. This prize, which is awarded every four years, is given to the European researcher who writes the best thesis in the field of Thermal Science. The young MESA+ researcher will receive an amount of 2,500 euros in addition to the obvious honour that goes with this prize.

A total of 17 people from 11 different countries were nominated. Stevens, who was awarded a PhD in 2011 for his thesis entitled Rayleigh-Bénard turbulence, was the lucky winner. The jury proclaimed his thesis to be the best European thesis in the field of Thermal Science. Stevens will be presented with his prize during the European Thermal Sciences Conference later this year in Poitiers, France.

Steven was recently also awarded a YES! fellowship, allowing him to spend three years carrying out research in Baltimore (USA).
