Improvement works at Ravelijn
As was indicated some time ago, improvement works at Ravelijn will be in full swing over the next few months. The improvements are aimed at remedying a number of unfortunate faults in the building and are to be carried out as soon as possible. Work will progress in stages with a view to minimizing disruption and disturbance to the greatest possible extent. We will continue to keep you updated about these activities through information letters such as this one.
Replacement of Ravelijn building control technology
This letter is to inform you about scheduled works for the replacement of the building control technology at Ravelijn.
Period
From Wednesday 20 September to Friday 26 October (weeks 38-43). This work will therefore be completed before the examination weeks (weeks 44 and 45).
Works
Building control technology is used to regulate systems for indoor ventilation, heating and air conditioning. As part of the overall programme of improvements at Ravelijn, the building’s entire control system is to be replaced (to provide better adjustment capacities and improve the new system’s coordination with the rest of the University).
Disruption
A team from Signum will be carrying out these works from 8:00 until 18:00 starting on Wednesday 20 September. Replacing each of the control boxes will require cutting off the power supply to the section of the building connected to the control box in question. This means there will temporarily be no heating, ventilation or air conditioning. Naturally we will make every effort to perform this work as quickly as possible. After replacement, the new control boxes will need to be tested and put into operation, requiring Signum workers to access various offices and rooms.
Where possible, we advise opening the windows and doors during the intervals in which there is no ventilation and/or air conditioning. In the event of cold weather, you may wish to bring extra clothing. To make the inconvenience somewhat more bearable, complimentary treats will be offered at the coffee corner in the Atrium during the weeks in which the works are being carried out.

Weeks 38/39 All building sections (offices and lecture rooms)
20 September - 26 September: no heating, air conditioning or air treatment
26 September - 2 October: testing and operationalization
Weeks 39/40/41 Building sections A and C (offices and the following lecture rooms: RA2232, RA2237, RA3231, RA3237, RA4231, RA4237, RA1501, RA2501, RA2502, RA2503, RA2504)
28 September - 9 October: no heating, air conditioning or air treatment
8 October - 16 October: testing and operationalization
Weeks 40/41/42 Building section A1 (offices and the following lecture rooms: RA2231, RA3231, RA4231)
3 October - 12 October: no heating, air conditioning or air treatment
11 October - 22 October: testing and operationalization
Weeks 41/42/43 Building section B (offices and the following lecture rooms: RA2334, RA2336, RA3334, RA3336, RA4334, RA4336)
12 October - 22 October: no heating, air conditioning or air treatment
19 October - 26 October: testing and operationalization
Weeks 42/43 Building section B1 (offices and the following lecture rooms: RA2334, RA2336, RA3334, RA3336, RA4334, RA4336)
18 October - 26 October: no heating, air conditioning or air treatment
26 October - 1 November: testing and operationalization
