Richard Stevens wins Ercoftac Da Vinci Award 2011

Richard Stevens from the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Twente has won the Da Vinci Award 2011. This annual prize is awarded by Ercoftac (the European Research Community on Flow Turbulence and Combustion) to talented young researchers in the field. In addition to the honour, Stevens will also receive prize money of 1,000 euro, a certificate and a medal.


Stevens was awarded the prize for his PhD thesis entitled Turbulent Rayleigh Benard Convection, which also secured him a doctoral degree earlier this year. His research was carried out in Professor Detlef Lohse's Physics of FluidsDepartment. After being awarded his PhD, Stevens took a post-doc position within the department.
