Record number of prize winners honored at laureates gathering

‘There are too many winners to mention you all by name, but I am proud of all of you!’ President of the Executive Board Victor van der Chijs spoke those words at the traditional laureates gathering.

Proud

At the gathering, employees and students that won an important award, distinction or personal grant last year were honored. There were enough reasons to be proud: in 2017 a record number of 181 people from the UT won an award, breaking the record of 174 that was set just last year. ‘And we were also granted the title of best technical university in the Netherlands. A great achievement.’

Future

‘This university is a community of people that work together and support each other, so we can all achieve the best possible result’, said van der Chijs. ‘Going forward, our policy is to pay even more attention to the special talent that is present at our university, so it can prosper and grow. Therefore, I hope we will have even more prize winners next year.’

POSTPONED

The gathering was several weeks later than usual, since it had to be postponed because of bad weather on the original date (11 December). But now, the prize winners could enjoy a special performance of two of the creators of Jesus Christ Superstar: the RAW edition, winner of the Student Union’s Culture Award. After that, the winners raised their glass in celebration.
