Technical Medicine students win two prizes at Student Research Conference

The Student Research Conference, which took place in Middelburg last week, saw two separate prizes awarded to three Technical Medicine students from the University of Twente. The students are Sanne Feiner, Silvana Riphagen and René Hovenier.

Together they won both the Best Researcher Award and the Public Choice Award in the category of Applied Sciences. And as a result they took home two cheques; one for € 1000 and one for € 750. The students received the prize for their paper entitled Een alarmerend probleem - Het reduceren van valse aritmie alarmen op de Spoedeisende Hulp door het combineren van het elektrocardiogram met het fotoplethysmogram om de patiëntveiligheid te verbeteren (‘An alarming problem – Reducing false arrhythmia alarms in the Accident and Emergency department by combining the electrocardiogram with the photoplethysmogram to improve patient safety’).

Student Research Conference

The annual Student Research Conference is a scientific conference that focuses on Bachelor’s research by young scientific talent. This year a total of six participants from the University of Twente, working individually or in small groups, took part in the conference. The best sixty papers from the conference will soon be published in the online scientific journal SURE!.
