University of Twente supports Turkish academics and students

Today Turkey announced that Turkish academics and students who are temporarily working or participating in an exchange programme in the Netherlands, may be called back to Turkey by their home university. The University of Twente follows this development with great concern and has set up an information point for any questions or worries from Turkish students and academics.

We concur with the view of all Dutch universities, as stated in a short statement by the VSNU. Through this statement, we call attention to the importance of academic freedom.

Furthermore, the UT will always follow the travel advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We recommend our Turkish academics and students to follow this site by themselves as well:  https://www.government.nl/ministries/ministry-of-foreign-affairs/news/2016/07/16/faq-about-the-situation-in-turkey

As a student you can ask your questions about possible consequences in the current situation at the Secretary of SACC (Phone: 053 489 2035 or e-mail: sacc@utwente.nl).

As a staff member you can reach Joost Sluijs (from 15/08) or Mariëlle Winkler (Phone 053-4898012 or e-mail Secretariaat-hr@utwente.nl).
