Vanessa Evers in the top 50 of most inspiring women in European technology

University of Twente professor Vanessa Evers is included in the top 50 of most inspiring women in European technology. The list that includes Evers was published by Inspiring Fifty. This organization aims to increase the visibility of female role models in technology sectors. 

A jury consisting of experts from Europe and the United States composed the list, based on hundreds of nominations. Janneke Niessen, one of the people behind Inspiring Fifty, explains that the aim is for these role models to inspire girls and women and show them that a career in technology is one of the best choices they could possibly make.

The list includes 50 women from a wide variety of technology sectors. The list includes entrepreneurs, scientists and policy makers from eleven European countries. There are five Dutch women on the list, including University of Twente Professor Vanessa Evers. Evers works in the department of Human Media Interaction at UT research institute CTIT (Centre for Telematics and Information Technology) and is the woman behind the Design Lab on the University of Twente campus. She researches the interaction between autonomous machines such as robots and human beings, and the cultural aspects of the interaction between man and computer. Evers has published over 80 scientific articles, has won several scientific awards and is regularly in the media. Ms Evers is also an editor at the International Journal of Social Robotics, co-chair of the ACM International Human Robot Interaction Steering Committee and an associate editor at the Human Robot Interaction Journal.
