The password for the login account will expire once a year for security reasons. This means that you must change the password. This is only possible via the self service portal (at the right bottom of the web page). An email is sent several times in advance with a reminder about the expiry of the password. The password can also be changed at the Servicedesk ICT, however, identification is mandatory.
The login account password must be changed via the self service portal (at the right bottom of the web page).
The password for employees must be changed via the LISA Self Service Portal (at the right bottom of the web page). This same password can therefore be used for all standard UT services.
Click here for the summary of where the password is changed or where a new password must be entered and which account is required for this.
The password for a UT workstation cannot be changed via ('Ctrl-Alt-Del') or via Outlook Web Access ('xs.utwente.nl').
If you do not remember your password, you can change them yourself through LISA Self Service Portal (at the right bottom of the web page). However this is only possible if you have registered a private e-mail address before you forget it, an e-mail will be sent to your private e-mail address. You can check this and or modify this if required through https://webapps.utwente.nl/adreswijziging.
The password for students must be changed via the LISA Self Service Portal (at the right bottom of the web page). The same password can therefore be used for all standard UT services.
If you do not remember your password, you can change them yourself through LISA Self Service Portal. An e-mail will be sent to your private e-mail address. This private e-mail address is registered in Studielink.
Third parties and guests (externals)
People who are not a member of staff or student (third parties or guests) sometimes need access to UT ICT services.
A password must have a length of at least 10 and at most 64 characters. It cannot be the same as one of your three previous passwords, nor can it contain three or more successive characters that are also part of your username in that same order. Furthermore, the password must:
- Contain at least 1 lowercase letter from the a-z range.
- Contain at least 1 uppercase letter from the A-Z range.
- Contain at least 1 digit from the 0-9 range.
You can use punctuation marks as part of your password, but you can only use those symbols that can be entered directly or by using the SHIFT key on a standard QWERTY keyboard. Be careful when using different keyboards on which certain punctuation marks in combination with letters generate diacritical marks such as an umlaut, a diaeresis or an accent grave. Those symbols cannot be part of your password.
You require the login account to log into the domain computer, email, eduroam and VPN access and various UT web applications.
After a password change, always log out and back in again. The changed password must also be re-entered and stored on all other devices such as mobile phone, iPad, etc.
IMPORTANT for domain notebooks:
When using a domain notebook (“AD” or “ad.utwente.nl” is displayed on the login screen) the notebook must be connected to the UT network with a network cable (at the UT) or through a VPN connection outside the UT after you have changed your password.
In this way your new password is synchronized with both the central ICT facilities and your notebook. If you are at the UT and connected to the UT network with a network cable, a reboot of the notebook is sufficient. A VPN connection is necessary if you are not directly connected to the UT network (e.g. from home); lock the pc by pressing the Windows key () + L and log on with your new password.
If you are not connected to the UT network (through a network cable or VPN) when you have changed your password, the local password on the notebook is not changed. You can still log on with your old password, but central ICT facilities such as email/Outlook, etc. require the new password.
For support, please use the self service page and the manuals.
Access only through the Citadel side entrance at the O&O square.
